Kyle and this defensive player went around and around all day...
So for the most part, it was an ok season, Kyle learned a lot and grew so much in his favorite sport, their season ended 3-8. He's ready to move on now.
Our other major life change was moving to a new house. It is still located in Gulf Breeze, just a few blocks from our old house, just higher and dryer! Surrounded by woods and tall pines and the bay is in the back side of our neighborhood and the Garcon Bridge is behind us as all; which connects north Santa Rosa County to South Santa Rosa County (us). Makes is so much easier to get out if necessary to higher ground and to travel, of course the 3.50 each way toll is a bit much; but convenient enough to pay for it. Here are just a few photos of our new house...I'm still working on the bedrooms, one is to become my craft room and the other a guest bedroom; both having beds. Our new home is: 1540 Oakhill Road, Gulf Breeze, FL 32563
Entrance Way, spare rooms and guest bath through archway
Guest/hall bathroom
Fireplace in living room
Living room/dining room
Grandma Mildred's dining room table with the extensions! Setting for 10; plus kitchen table of 4 and outside table of 4...that was thanksgiving dinner. Usually we just keep the setting for 6 up.
Kitchen/breakfast eating area with kind of a view of outside...no view of kitchen yet - this was thanksgiving afternoon - too messy! But you get the idea of how it looks now, and when the rooms are done, I'll post them as well.
We love our new little house, it's cozy and quaint. And we're ready to take on 2010 with a gust. Ready to make new things happen and continue to watch our family grow. So for those of you who did not know, Denise is pregnant and due late June. We couldn't be any happier!
As we sat there waiting for Kyle in the procession, there he was, my son Kyle, all grown up. He look sure of himself, confident, and proud. He gave us the "sign" which is something we've done since he was a little boy, it's the sign for "love", just something between Kyle and I. And then my heart melted. The tears started.
As Kyle came across the stage, I flash-backed to his first day of school in Navarre, his fifth grade graduation in Navarre, his first day of middle school in Gulf Breeze, his eighth grade graduation, and first dance and then his first day of high school. And I realized Kyle has spent his entire time in school in one place, and that we have lived in this area for 19 years. And that was probably one of the best things we could give our kids is a long lasting memories of their school days and friends they will hopefully always stay in contact with throughout college and beyond. We sat with our whole family on one row and looking down the row my heart was over-joyed with love. To be living in a community where your family is so close where Kyle's sister and brother, sister-in-law and grandparents watch him take this final step into the next phase of his life. Along with parents of other boys who have spend many nights in my home, eating dinners, playing xBox games all night, and just hanging out. They too have been such a big part of our lives.
And so the next phase of Kyle's life begins. He has many choices to make that will affect his future. He comes off the stage with his diploma in hand, his first major life's accomplishment-- with so many more ahead of him. The life of a high school student is behind him now...
And his future ahead of him...he may look back at all the memories; football camps, games, friends, nothing to do but hang out, remembering those sweet summer days at the beach as those memories will always remain with him because they are apart of who Kyle is. As I see Kyle come off the stage with that diploma, Scott and I say to each other, we did it. And he walks past us, looking straight ahead, I'm sure he is thinking...what next?
